Our mind can be our best friend or our worst enemy. It all depends on how we are programmed.

Our basic belief systems, or our programming, is set by the time we are three to five years old. Of course we continue to learn for years and hopefully all our lives yet none of this learning will change our basic belief system. Whatever was going on in our family dynamic when we were growing up sets the stage for how we will live the rest of our lives. This includes behaviors and habits that anyone who has tried to change them knows are very ingrained into who we are.

Habits and patterns of behavior are hard wired synaptic memory loops in your brain that respond to sensory stimulus. This means when you encounter an event, sight, sound, whatever, in order to respond to this, a message goes from your senses to your brain finding a reference to know how to react. This is why people will keep reacting the same way to triggers in their lives and feel powerless to change it.

Does this mean we are doomed to be the way we were programmed to be by influences outside of who we really are? NO WAY!

Meditation is the key to settling the mind down, for if it stays very active it will not give up the control it has over us. It is known that during times of great stress people will go into patterns and habits of their basic belief systems. Meditation reduces stress and opens the door of the subconscious mind where we can develop sub-belief systems.

We create sub-belief systems that we can reference to deal with various events in our lives. Once set we have a choice of how to react to the triggers that would have normally pushed us into the old patterns and habits. The more we consciously choose the sub-belief systems the more they become the default setting. Sub-belief systems are formed and maintained in the subconscious mind and meditation is how we arrive there.

The more you use these synaptic memory loops, the more established they become. If you stop using them they will eventually disconnect. This means that with effort you can change anything about your patterns and habits that you do not like. A great movie that explains this is “What The Bleep Do We Know”. Rent it or better yet buy it and watch it often.

There are two parts to your mind the conscious and the subconscious. Most of the time in life we operate using our conscious mind as it is necessary for daily thinking tasks. This is the main reason it becomes so dominant as it is so used to being in control. The problem is the conscious is just a very small part of our mind. The subconscious, is in truth so much more.

Normally your subconscious only has expression while you are sleeping because the conscious is then unconscious. This is where your dreams originate and if you do remember your dreams you can relate that the language of the unconscious is rather confusing at times. This is because you are listening to a part of you that you have never met before. It is not unlike meeting a stranger from another country who speaks a different language from yourself. If you were to move to that country and immersed yourself in that culture you would soon learn to understand what others were saying. This is true of your subconscious as well. When you practice meditation regularly the messages you receive when sleeping and even when you are awake will make perfect sense to you.

The purpose is to align your mind. When your mind is focused there is nothing you cannot accomplish. Most of us live scattered lives. Our minds are unsettled most or all of the time. When we meditate and tune in to our subconscious we align ourselves with our truth and when we have our conscious mind focused on the same path then nothing will stand in our way.

When our whole mind is focused on a direction in life, then we create an energy that brings in help from sources outside of ourselves. Soon people and events line up with your intention to help you succeed.

Your mind is very powerful and I want to make sure it is working for you, helping you to achieve your goal. If you are ready to make positive changes to align yourself with your truth, I want to hear from you.
