I began to ponder the meaning of self help and wondered how it can be self help if you are helping yourself by doing what someone else has told you to do.

Most of my life I have been an internal referencer and therefore have come up with my own answers to the problems I have faced. Not to say that we all couldn’t use some help sometime, from mentors who can help us grow in a new direction.

There are many self help sites and self help gurus in the world who claim to have the answer to all of life’s problems. It just seems to me that this is not what self help is all about. Call it mentoring or coaching or something that means listening to the counsel of another.

I truly believe that you have all the answers to the riddles of your life within you. We are all meant to have problems in life because that is how we learn and grow. If you listen to your inner wisdom you will discover the hidden meaning behind every event.

This is truly what self help is all about.

Life presents us with numerous opportunities to learn. There are many signs along the way to guide us in the direction we are meant to follow. These signs are helping us realize who we really are and what we are meant to do.

Often these signs that guide us are not pleasant experiences at all. It seems we humans learn from adversity better than from positive experiences. When these troubled times come along it can make us feel that we have lost our sense of self. This is a good sign that we are getting closer to the truth of who we are really meant to be.

The self we are losing during these times is our false self known as the ego. The ego’s main function is to keep us safe. There certainly is some value in that yet if the walls of the protection are too tight, we cannot expand to the magnitude of our brilliance.

The ego will always be there to protect us even when we have grown to express our divine light. The ego will simply accept that this is the way we are, not the limited self we used to believe we were.

I know that I am meant to live my life according to my divine plan. I know that each of us on this earth is meant to do the same. Each of us has a unique purpose that we are here to express.

Be open to the signs and accept their counsel. Learning to understand them will soften the lesson and help you to grow.

If you are seeking out Meditation as a way to deal with anxiety disorder then congratulations. You are heading down a path that will help you become aware of what you are on this earth for.

In my experience anyone suffering with anxiety disorder is a person who is operating at a very high level of consciousness. They are normally what I would call “nice” people. Very sensitive types who care about each other, animals, and the planet.

I see anxiety as unfocused energy. In my own experience, when I suffered with anxiety I was in a time of my life when I had no idea where I was heading. Meditation helped me to realize my true potential and who I was meant to be.

Meditation practice can be as varied as the individuals who pursue it. When we think about meditation, it is easy to get a mental picture of Indian Gurus sitting in the lotus position. Luckily that is only one way to meditate and for some it is the best way. What I find helpful to know is that the goal of any meditation is to quiet and focus the mind. There are numerous ways to accomplish this. Because there are many ways it can be quite enlightening to seek out and work with as many ways as you can. In this way you will learn more about yourself and discover which way works best for you.

The common thread in all meditation practice is breathing techniques. I know from experience that it is the best way to start. Breathing helps to bring our awareness into the body where our feeling place is. This in turn takes energy away from the mind so it has to slow down. When the mind slows down anxiety becomes peace.

Within your body is your cellular memory of what you are meant to be doing with your life. Some call it our intuition although, regardless of what it is called we can all relate to having a gut feeling that something was about to occur. Chances are if we trusted that feeling we would have made the right decision at the time. Can any of you relate to this?

Your intuition is the voice of your authentic self. The part of you that has been wanting to express itself your whole life. Meditate, calm the chatter of your mind, and then listen to the wisdom of your body.

Know that the amount of energy required to create anxiety within, when expressed outward in a positive way, will make a huge impact upon the world.
